Youth Conservation Leadership Program

Building Conservation Skills

Our Conservation Leadership Program is designed to improve skills and capacities of a new generation of young conservation leaders in Cambodia. Applicants are selected from local conservation organizations, student groups and environmental initiatives in Cambodia. Training provides participants with real-world practical skills as leaders, educators, communicators and activists.

Foundations

The program begins with an introduction to wildlife, natural science and wildlife conservation in Cambodia. This first phase is designed to make sure our leaders have a foundation of environmental and wildlife knowledge and awareness of conservation methods and strategies in Cambodia.

Leadership Skills

The core of the program provides leadership and technical skills training to help empower young conservation leaders. This includes lesson planning, graphic design, photography, social media, project management, grant writing, computer skills, PowerPoint and much more.

Discovery Expeditions

Throughout our Conservation Leadership Program we travel into nature alongside local wildlife and conservation experts. Students gain practical skills in GPS, mapping and orienteering, while experiencing wildlife conservation first hand at remote conservation sites.

Student Project

After completing training, students spend several weeks working together to prepare their own project. This could be a public awareness event, education program, film, or other project that promotes wildlife conservation. This project aims to test out their new skills and put them into practice.
